Hey do you have a host you like? I’m on the prowl for a new deal that gives me lots of flexibility but doesn’t require I spend my weekends noodling around in a shell account (unless I’m up for it) just to get my site running.
Yeah, HostPC seems to be pretty good so far. Cheap, simple, and responsive support. I’m only using their most basic hosting plan, though, so I can’t speak to their flexibility (which is something I’ve grown too old to be interested in).
Chris, how are you doing with comment Spam now that you’re WordPress? I’d love to remove the log-in requirements on my Weblog, but I don’t dare.
Well, I didn’t realize I had 20 comments awaiting moderating since I installed. Two of which were legit comments I had to flag as so, the rest went to Akismet. I was getting zero spam on Movable Type with the pseudo captcha plugin I was using, so I was a little irked by the sheer number of moderation I had to do, for one day no less. I’ll see if Akismet learns as time goes by.
Other than that, so far Wordpess is an absolute dream in comparison to Movable Type.
In my experience, Akismet will never be completely successful. Do you have Bad Behavior installed as well. Since I switched hosts and turned that back on, I’ve had one illegitimate comment to moderate, where I used to have a handful every few days. Of course, I also require people to sign-in to comment (though I may stop doing that, since it doesn’t really seem to prevent comment Spam).
I just installed it. Funny how the spammers knew I was running WordPress even though it’s a new install. I guess the spammer’s scripts just scan for all comment scripts and hit whatever does not return a 404.

HostPC seems to be the hot hosting company right now. Pretty decent prices for cPanel accounts. Read Morgan’s post here. He just went over to them.

I’ll see in the morning how it pans out.
